From Alagna to the Barba Ferrero refuge

Leave the car in frazione S. Antonio , follow the road along the banks of the Sesia until Piazzale dell’Acqua Bianca. Take path number 7 which crosses the plain where the Pastore Refuge is situated. Continue in the direction of the river, along the Safejaz Alps. After passing another grassy cliff and several turns in the path, the road verges eastwards and leads to the Barba Ferrero Refuge. Take path number 7 again to return to Piazzale dell’Acqua Bianca.
Sacro Monte di Varallo (The Holy Mount of Varallo )

Leave the car at Varallo and proceed on foot from Piazza Ferreri to the foot of the Holy Mount. The holy area is divided into two distinct zones, one on a slope arranged as a garden. In this area the chapels are situated at strategic points along the route and recount the life of Christ up until his entrance into Jerusalem chapel N° XIX. The second zone is situated at the top of the Mount and is preceded by the Porta Aurea which represents the entrance into the "City of Jerusalem". The area is divided into the two piazzas of the temple. These chapels tell the story of Christ and the events that occurred within and around the city of Jerusalem.
