Traffic 2008 is based on the theme of Punk, scoring the first date of the Sex Pistols in Torino who will be backed up by Wire, another historic name from that chapter of British music. A special evening organised by Manuel Agnelli will be bringing Afterhours on stage accompanied by legendary Patti Smith and Massimo Volume, a piece of Italian indie music history from the 1990’s who are getting back together for the Festival. Tricky, Soulwax, Battles and Fujiya & Miyagi Present Dissonanze Nike + Original Run – stars of the first show on the main stage at Pellerina – are joining together by an original idea : “design of rhythm”, in which Milan’s designer Fabio Novembre is participating as well with his sounds for the film “The Fall of the House of Usher” scheduled at the OGR, a place that is symbolic of the post industrial transformation in Torino. A rich retrospect on Punk based on cinema (a selection of films and documentaries edited by Marco Philopat) and design (the first anthological exhibit in Italy of Jamie Ried, designer to the Sex Pistols) complete the profile of a multifaceted one-of-a-kind Festival. The main novelty of Traffic 2008 is framed in the slogan “Traffic is going green”, a tribute to the first time collaboration between the Festival with the Torino World Design Capital. This association helps the event go beyond the boundaries of Torino and from the label of a simple music-fest by proposing big events such as the Traffic MiTo, opening the event to the summer at the civic arena in Milan, or Notte Verde (Green Night) which will close the event with a big party on the notes of Hercules and Love Affair, Alter Ego and Matthew Dear at the Palaisozaki in Torino. Another night that cannot be missed is the festival’s stop in Biella with Baustelle performing live in piazza Cisterna.
