Alto (CN)
From an administrative point of view, this small town belongs to Piedmont, but it is located on the Ligurian side of the Maritime Alps; in fact, its land marks the border of three provinces: Cuneo, Savona, and Imperia. Alto owes its name to an imposing medieval castle built on the hill that overlooks the town, which was a choice by the then Counts of Cipollini to make tax collection easier in the surrounding area.
