Bergolo (CN)

It’s called the “town of stone” of the High Langhe (Alta Langa), which comes from the fact that it has kept the typical sandstone seen in its buildings. It is a small town on the border between Piedmont and Liguria, suspended on the ridge that separates the Bormida and the Uzzone valleys, immersed in a wild and uncontaminated environment. In fact, it is thanks to this location that Bergolo is the ideal starting point for hiking, strolls, horseback riding, or mountain bike excursions. It is also the ideal setting for orienteering, a nature sport characterized by a race in a natural environment in which participants, furnished with a map and a compass, must follow a set course which they do not know beforehand. On the walls of Bergolo’s homes, works of art from all over Italy have found a spot; they are the winners of “Bergolo: paese di pietra” (“Bergolo: Town of Stone”), a contest that has transformed the town into a single, large, open art gallery.
