Busca (CN)

This mostly farming community rises up not too far from the banks of the Maira River, at the edge of Cuneo’s plain. The town has ancient origins and still maintains the medieval urban plan, but its most interesting monuments are of a more recent time. Among these, can be counted the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta and the church of Santissima Annunziata, works designed by the architect Francesco Gallo, illustrious exponent of Piedmont’s Baroque School. Leaving Brusca and going towards Saluzzo, one encounters the Roccolo Castle in the center of a vast park. Built around 1831 by the Marquis Roberto d’Azeglio in a Gothic-Moorish style as a vacation home, it is where Queen Margaret stayed as did Silvio Pellico after his prison stay in Austria.
