Borgo San Martino (AL)

A farming community in the plain that extends between the eastern side of Monferrato and the Po River, Borgo San Martino has been identified by historians as the ancient Roman town “Sarmatia”. The vestry of the parish church –dedicated to the town’s patron saints, Quirico and Giulietta - still has two paintings by Guglielmo Caccia, called Moncalvo. Just as valuable from an historical and cultural point of view is the Villa Scarampi, which, since 1864, has housed the Saint Charles Salesian College founded by San Giovanni Bosco.
