Camino (AL)
The imposing 11th century castle with its Gothic tower almost forty meters high is among the best preserved in all of Monferrato. Built, for defensive reasons, on the top of a hill and in the middle of a vast park filled with century-old trees, the castle was enlarged in phases until the 18th century. Inside the castle, the courtyard, the loggias, the open galleries, the 15th century room with its decorated fireplace, the rich library, and the large 18th century rooms in the French style are all worth a visit. From the tower, the view looks out over the hills of Basso Monferrato and over the Po Valley all the way to the rim of the Alps.
