Frabosa Soprana (CN)

An ancient hamlet in the Maritime Alps, Frabosa is a popular vacation spot both in the summer and in the winter as it is part of the vast Mondole Ski district, a skiing area with more than 100 kilometers of slopes and trails. It is characterized by a natural landscape of rare beauty - so much a so, that since 1939, its territory has been under the tutelage of the environmental ministry in order to protect this extraordinary heritage. Besides this, Frabosa Soprano is part of a linguistic island where the Kye language, a branch of the Provencal language with an exclusively oral codification, was handed down. The Karstic phenomena which distinguish the Alps of Monregale have in the area of Frabosa, in Val Corsaglia, a unique example: the Bossea Caves, which continue for more than two kilometers and have an incline of almost two hundred meters with singular visual points of interest one after another. The most important fair of the year takes place in August and is called the Sagra dei Formaggi Raschera e Brus (The Raschera and Brus Chesse Festival). Raschera obtained DOP certification and its mountain pasture variant is produced in only nine towns in the province of Cuneo, among them: Frabosa Soprana.
