Avigliana (TO)

This is a place much loved for its lakes, which are a main attraction at Avigliana’s vast Regional Natural Park. This park, extending over 400 hectares and with an average altitude of 300 meters, offers a richly diverse landscape from lakes, to fens, to woods. The fauna is also diverse and varied with herons, wild ducks, black kites, and many other species permanently in the park or passing through during migratory periods. The lakes are very popular because of their beauty, because they offer a chance to have fun, and because they are close to Turin and other towns in the province. It’s possible to go out on the Great Lake (Lago Grande) and this why it’s a destination for everyone who sails or practices rowing. It is also possible to take pleasurable and relaxing walks through the city’s historical center, a true and proper artistic treasure of medieval architecture. The heart of Avigliana is the Piazza Conte Rosso where buildings decorated with splendid friezes in terra cotta are embellished with cross vault porticos, supported by pillars with elegant capitals.
