The key to our economic future in the third millennium consist lie in bringing the most advanced scientific and technologic knowledge to small and medium-sized businesses. This challenge must be met in a variety of ways and will requie a close collaboration between the public and private sectors. Verbania’s Tecnoparco, the first technology park in Northern Italy, stems from just such an iniziative. Funded by the European Union and the Piedmont regional authorities, it aims to foster new businesses, especially in their launch phase. It is a highly efficient organisation, with opportunities on offer for all Piedmont’s industries.
