Cities

Incisa Scapaccino (AT)

The town, originally known as Incisa Belbo, was renamed in 1928 in honor of its native son, Giovanni Battista Scapaccino, first civil merit medal winner of the Carabinieri (paramilitary) Corps. The town, made-up of four hamlets (Borgo Villa, Borgo Ghiare, Borgo Impero, and Borgo Madonna), is a peaceful and welcoming place where tourists can enjoy the sweetness of the landscape, the goodness of typical products, and the beauty of the artistic heritage. Farming is the mainstay of the local economy. Famous is the “cardo gobbo”, a vegetable use in the Bagna Caoda, a dish with its own festival –Sagra del Barbera e del Cardo Storto (Festival of Barbera and the Crooked Cardoon) – which takes place in the autumn. Local artisans who are able to craft in iron, wood, and glass also deserve a special place in the forefront.
