Rocchetta Tanaro - Piemonte Feel

Rocchetta Tanaro (AT)

The town’s first inhabitants reached the spot more than four millennia ago. The Neolithic discoveries in Castello d’Annone and the abundance of Paleolithic remains and fossils testify to this. The presence of Imperial Rome has been confirmed by digs carried out around the Church of the Ciappellette, while the cylindrical tower, the remains of the wall, and part of the ancient Priamissa Fortress are testaments to the age-long presence of the Incisas, a family whose knightly history was linked to feudal Rochetta until the 18th century. Today, the residents of the town are mostly involved in the wine and food sector, which is also a fundamental part of the town’s history and local economy. Among the first communities to declare itself “anti-genetically modified”, Rochetta has a deep tie to the land and to nature – just visit its natural park, a protected area where it is possible to meet up with protected species and age-old trees.
