Today, the town’s most important economic role is played by the faucet industry, but, located in the heart of the Valsesserra, Pray was a very important center in the textile industry. In this area, the wool industry, which is part of its history and traditions, is symbolized by The Spinning Wheel Factory (Fabbrica della Ruota) –the former Zignone Wool Processing Plant. The history of this factory, which goes back to 1878, is interesting and is significant for the town. It maintains intact the only known example in Italy of the “telodynamic’’ system, a complex installation that generates and transmits energy from a distance. Presently, the structure, which is placed in the middle of the industrial archeology tour, “Strada della Lana”, is the seat of exhibits and events that adhere to the industrial and cultural history themes of the area.
