La Morra (CN)
The culture of wine and good food is so diffused and recognized within La Morra that its most popular event is the Mangialonga” (the “Longeat”); scheduled for the last Sunday in August, it involves a series of stops to taste traditional products along an almost four kilometer route among vineyards, farmsteads, and chapels scattered throughout the countryside. The first to introduce the cultivation of grapes were the monks who lived in the present Church dell’Annunziata, in the hamlet of the same name. Today, the cantinas of this former cloister house the Ratti Museum of the Wines of Alba, established on the initiative of the wine producing entrepreneur Renato Ratti to introduce the local history of wine and vineyards through ancient vineyard and cantina tools, historical documents, ampelographic tables, and maps of wine areas. Also, the Town Cantina should not be missed. Housed in the 18th century Palazzo dei Marchesi di Barolo, it brings together the best in local production and serves as a starting point for tours to discover the wines of this land and their producers.
