Piasco (CN)
The Romans created a customs office for crossing to and from Gaul here, but for modern folk, it is the town that has one of the most important harp collections in the world, thanks to the Victor Salvetti Harp Museum, a complex opened to the public in 2006, which includes an auditorium, an historical archive, and a restoration center dedicated to the history and to the musical universe of this ancient instrument. We owe Castel Nuovo’s massive silhouette, which dominated the town, to the great architect from the House of Savoy, Amedeo di Castellamonte; the prized fresco cycle , attributed to Pietro da Saluzzo, is located in the Church di San Giovanni Battista, the ancient parish church dates back to just after the year 1000.
