Cassine (AL)
Dueling knights, dancers, jugglers, minstrels who sing of courtly love for noble women; every year, for two days in the streets, Cassine brings the medieval atmosphere back to life by organizing a grandiose event and removing every reference to modernity from its streets, all in memory of Gian Galeazzo Visconti’s visit to the city. The heart of this trip back in time is the historical center with its streets perched on high, the 15th century fortress Palazzo Zoppi, and the complex formed by the Church di San Francesco and the former convent - important architectural reminders of Romanesque-Gothic art.
