Murisengo (AL)

In November, it’s the National Truffle Fair “Trifola d’or”, which for more than thirty years has sold and awarded the best specimens of the prized tuber gathered in Monferrato. The fair has deep roots; in several documents from 1516, the “San Martino Fair” also included mushrooms and truffles in its array of autumn fruits and vegetables. In the last few years, the Fair of Murisengo has registered an increased number of Italian and foreign exhibitors and customers who come to this town in Monferrato, dominated by the castle where Silvio Pellico stayed while he wrote “Francesca da Rimini”, for this event. Also, the Parish Church di Sant’Antonio Abate in the Piedmont Rococo style and the Baroque Church di San Luigi in the hamlet if Corteranzo designed by Bernardo Vittone and characterized by a dome with six arches, crossed to create a hexagonal star, are worth noting. An interesting fact: in Murisengo, one of Monferrato’s most famous sulfuric springs, the “Pirenta”, shoots up.
