Cities
Serravalle Scrivia (AL)
A crossroad for Genoa, Turin, and Milan, Serravalle welcomes thousands of visitors every year, most of whom are headed to the first Italian fashion center and largest designer outlet in Europe. In Serravalle, one does not just buy, but has a unique shopping experience in exclusive boutiques which overlook the small paved squares and the winding streets set in the striking architecture of an 18th century Ligurian historical center immersed in green hills. The city’s origins are found in the nearby archeological site of Libarna, a Roman settlement built to oversee commercial transit and abandoned under the pressure of barbarian invasions. The foundations of an amphitheater, of a theater, and of a city neighborhood are visible at the site. Some of the archeological matter unearthed is exhibited at the Villa Caffarena multiuse center.
