Briona (NO)
You can see Briona from a distance because of its castle with the peculiar red dome, inside of which is the “Gallery of Arms”, a hall adorned with weapons and Eastern objects which the Marquis Paolo Solaroli collected during his youth. Briona, called “City of Wine”, is part of the Fara DOC production area, of Colline Novaresi DOC, and is the native land of rosso Caramino – a delicate ruby red wine with a strawberry and violet aroma. The territory’s cultivated area has the last rice paddies in the province of Novara where the Proh Castle, a structure from the mid 15th century built by the Duke of Milan Francesco Sforza, is also located.
