The centuries have barely touched the layout and aspect of the ancient town that has developed in a semicircle on the slopes of the hill of Valperga, which overlooks the Canavese plane, surrounding the vast complex of its castle. Not far from the built-up area is located the Santuario di Belmonte (Belmonte Sanctuary), included in the circuit of the Sacri Monti (Sacred Mountains) under the care of Unesco, that you can reach following a pedestrianised street. The site on which the Sanctuary was erected, in 1991 became a special nature reserve and a protected zone.
