Many are the illustrious men who stayed in the rooms of the Castello dei conti Valperga Masino (Counts Valperga Masino Castle), from San Carlo Borromeo to Vittorio Alfieri, from Massimo D’Azeglio to Gioacchino Rossini. The castle, which was later used as a country house, has earned the nickname: “balcone del Canavese” (The terrace of the Canavese), because of the view that can be admired from its terraces. In the chapel, houses the body of Arduino, he was the marquis of Ivrea and first king of Italy in 1102.
