The brickwork façades in which open out the large Gothic windows of Castel Vecchio (Old Castle) and the baroque spaces of Castello Nuovo (New Castle), confer on the heights of Rivara a sweet and romantic atmosphere. This is difficult to reconcile with the legends of the nocturnal Sabbaths and the accounts of the trials conducted against the witches in this area in the fourteen hundreds. The Castello Nuovo (New Castle) has for some years housed the Centro di Arte Contemporanea (Centre for Modern art), permanent home of about 500 works from all over the world. They also organise temporary and personal exhibitions at an international level.
