Borgomasino (TO)
Lying on one of the hills that mark the border between the glacial amphitheatre of Ivrea and the Canavese plateau, it gives views of the whole area. Borgomasino Castle was constructed in the Middle Ages when this area was frequently the theatre of battles between the cities of Vercelli and Ivrea. Today the castle retains the four-sided medieval tower, the farm buildings, the weaponry courtyard and, inside, large rooms with finely frescoed ceilings. On the outside, a beautiful park overlooks the Naviglio plain and the glacial hills of the Canavese area.
