Lagnasco (CN)

This town was the fief of the Tapparelli family for over half a century. One branch of this family was the Tapparelli d´Azeglio family, of which the most famous exponents were Massimo, Roberto and Emanuele d´Azeglio. The castle stands here as evidence of this regency and of the family’s power. It is one of the most significant Renaissance monuments of Piedmont. The Castello di Lagnasco (Castle of Lagnasco) lies in the Saluzzo plain and is surrounded by vegetation. It is characterised by more than a thousand square metres of Renaissance frescoes, made by illustrious local artists who worked in Rome in the Vatican Palace, in close contact with artists from Raphael’s circle.
