Monticello d’Alba (CN)
This town is located in the hills to the left of the river Tanaro, and is overlooked by a medieval castle built to a square plan and flanked by two towers, one square and one round, and enclosed by ramparts. The castle is surrounded by a secular Italian style park, evidence of important eighteenth century restoration, and is still owned by the direct discendents of the Roero family, who have owned and lived in it since the thirteen hundreds. The landscape is typical of the hills of the Roero region, with woods interspersed with cultivated areas, especially vineyards. The celebrated local products: Barbera wine and Nebbiolo D.o.c.
