Quinto Vercellese (VC)
It is only a few kilometres away from Vercelli, and bases its economy on rice growing. These are the reasons why the Romanesque Church of the Saints Nazario and Celsius was given the nickname “Perla delle risaie” (pearl of the rice-fields). This church, according to what must have been a deeply entrenched habit at the time of its building, was erected using salvaged materials (bricks, fragments of worked Roman marble, roof tiles, river pebbles) arranged in a herringbone pattern. The majestic Castello degli Avogadro (Avogadro Castle) is now used as a farm.
