Orsara Bormida (AL)

One of most ancient and better preserved medieval castles of the area dominates this village-hamlet of the Alto Monferrato (Upper Monferrato). The castle was built in the XIII century, then changed and modified several times over the centuries, and it now houses a farm that produces D.o.c. wines. At the foot of the ancient Castello d´Orsara, in fact, extend about ten hectares of splendid vineyards, mostly of Dolcetto grapes, and have all been replanted. The Castle underground passages lead staright to the banks of the river Bormida, which gives its name to the town.
