Piovera (AL)
This town extends on the right bank of the river Tanaro, in a flat area that is well linked to the industrial triangle formed by Torino, Milano and Genova. Piovera was originally entirely centred around the “Castrum” (Castle), that Carlo Magno had built, whereas it now extends as far as the road that leads to Alessandria. The Castello di Piovera also dates from the time of Carlo Magno, it underwent drastic transformation over the centuries and today appears as a characteristic kind of architecture caught between the ancient and the modern world.
