Sestriere (TO)

Sestriere does not owe its world fame to the incredible feats of champion Alberto Tomba, televised around the globe: it was already a favourite destination for film stars, like Audrey Hepburn and Liz Taylor, and other celebrities throughout the 50s. The resort was created in the 1930s
by Senator Giovanni Agnelli, the owner of Fiat, who built the two distinctive cylindrical tower hotels and the first two cable car lifts up to the slopes of the Banchetta and Sisa mountains. Sestriere is located at the meeting point of the Chisone and Upper Susa valleys, at an altitude of over 2000 metres. In the winter, thousands of skiers and snowboarders come here to enjoy the 120 kilometres of magnificent ski runs of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) system. In summer, it offers an eighteen hole golf course and a new athletics stadium which has been the venue for international meetings. But the real “queen” of this resort is the snow, where you can also ski by night and that every year hosts the “white circus” of the trials for the Ski World Cup
