Buttigliera d'Asti (AT)

Its founding goes back to 1264-1269, the time of the struggle between merchants from Asti and Count Emanuele di Biandrate, following which, the villa nova was born, an appellation which Buttigliera held for a long time. The monuments which enrich this town, from where it is possible to see the outline of the Ligurian Alps and Apennines, are the little Romanesque church San Marino with Romanesque-Gothic frescos from the 14th century, the baroque church of San Michele with its 13th century bell tower, and San Biagio from the second half of the 17th century and enlarged and modified between 1774 and 1789 following the design of the architect Mario Lodovico Quarini and which maintains its façade in colored scagliola stone.
