Albano Vercellese (VC)
Herons, night herons, egrets, crested herons, cormorants, wild duck, spoonbills and turtles. Albano Vercellese is the seat of the Lame del Sesia Natural Park. Set up to protect the very special environments known as “lame”, which are marshlands generated by the River Sesia when it overflows, causing it to change course, the park is a splendid natural fauna reserve. Every year, thousands of birds nest here, protected by the “garzaia” of the special reserve of Isolone di Oldenico. Visitors are welcomed by the Park Department, which organises guided tours and special courses on themes linked with natural science and environmental education.
