Balocco (VC)

This tiny village in the Vercelli district, populated by less than three hundred villagers and linked essentially to rice culture, is characterised by the intricately wound presence of important experimental tracks for testing motor vehicles. Commissioned by Alfa Romeo in 1962, the Balocco district is a complex of circuits and plants for testing and experimenting every type of vehicle in the worst possible conditions. From the fastest sports cars to industrial vehicles, the entire range of vehicles built by the Fiat Group is developed and fine-tuned on these surfaces. In short, Balocco is a typical example of cohabitation between past and future. From the artistic viewpoint, interest is provided by the Romanesque church, the oldest parts of which date back to the 11th century, of Michele Arcangelo, home to a 16th century triptych attributed to a member of the Giovenone group.
