Borgo d'Ale (VC)
Borgo d’Ale stretches across an almost flat surface behind the moraine hills of Ivrea. It has approximately 3,000 inhabitants, most of whom are farmers, although in recent years, various artisan and commercial businesses have sprung up. The soil of Borgo d’Ale is extremely fertile, irrigated by five canals which have favoured the development of a variety of crops. It is one of the most important areas in Piedmont for the cultivation of peaches and kiwi fruit, but its asparagus, courgettes and strawberry grapes are also of excellent quality. The town has no shortage of important monuments, such as the Bell tower, Porta d’Alice and the 16th century water mill.
