Borgovercelli (VC)

The history of this municipality dates back to ancient times. During digging operations, inscriptions and other artefacts were found bearing witness to its ancient origins, such as the remains of graves from the Longbard period and fragments of Roman inscriptions. The town’s symbol is the castle, inherited by the Visconti family in 1335 and completely demolished by Galeazzo between 1356 and 1363. When it was rebuilt in the early 1400’s, it was home to Torquato Tasso, author of “Il padre di famiglia” inspired by these events.
