Brovello Carpugnino (VB)
The odd-looking monument in Carpugnino’s main square, “Gatto con ombrello” (“Cat with an Ombrella”), pays homage to the residents of this small village, who are called “cats”, and to the umbrella a makers from all over Vergante who have chosen this village as their gathering place. There are actually four villages which make up this residential group: Brovello, Graglia Piana, Carpugnino, and Stropino. These villages are located in a valley where the Crisano, Scoccia, and Coloria streams pass through. A landscape of fields, meadows, and woods of which the woods of Motta Rossa has the particular distinction of being the purest in the area and the location of one of Italy’s most striking golf courses.
