Calasca Castiglione (VB)
These are two distinct mountain villages along the valley of the Anza stream. In Calasca, the Parrocchiale di Sant’Antonio Abate (Parish of Saint Anthony Abate) – also known as “the cathedral among the woods” due to its unusual size - from the 19th century rises up. It was here that in 1791, the physicist Giuseppe Belli, remembered as a refined linguist and philologist, was born. He compiled a small dictionary of the dialects from the Anzasca Valley and the Intrasca Valley. The village of Castiglione is located a bit farther. The mountain pasture at Drocala at 940 meters, which for centuries had been original center of the village of Castiglione, is a landscape worth seeing.
