The new season of the live-salon presented by Mao, musician and MTV VJ, and dedicated to the emerging Piedmontese artistic panorama has just started. Attended by bands, singer-songwriters, dancers, designers and many other guests, Il Salotto di Mao (Mao’s Salon) is a prestigious as well as eccentric showcase for every creative artist.

Torino World Design Capital

Torino is the first World Design Capital. For the whole of 2008, the city will be transformed into a model promoting territorial planning. Torino World Design Capital is broken down into four phases to address citizens, businesses, the academic and training world and institutions, in the conviction that design is an instrument of economic, social and cultural development.

Fiori & Aromi

From April to October, the Giardino Medievale (Medieval Garden) in Torino will be the romantic setting for a series of courses, guided tours, open air lessons, events, and celebrations. Fiori & Aromi is the ideal opportunity to admire one of the city’s most beautiful gardens during the different seasons of the year.

Ticino Trekking

“Ticino Trekking 2008” proposes a series of walks aimed at discovering the most interesting areas of the Novara territory from a landscape viewpoint, until October 12th. Participation is available and free of charge.

Good Times!

Every Sunday, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight, Fluido has Good Times! Music and drinks with dj’s Andy and Giorgio Valletta Eclettismo, refinement, and a touch of craziness are the ingredients of this weekly get-together that reaches into the music of the past, the present and the future without any genre or category restrictions.

The Great Markets in Cherasco

The city of Cherasco, splendid link between the Langhe and Roero, is famous for its colorful antique and collecting markets - an exaltation of stands where one finds not only every type of merchandize, but also traces of Piemonte culture and tradition.

A year around the Alps

The section of Club Alpino Italiano (Italian Alpine Club) of Chieri (Province of Torino) is 80 years old and will celebrate with a ring tour around the Alps lasting one year. This tour will touch peaks over 4,000 metres high, 48 refuges and camps, 28 Alpine valleys, 65 passes, 3 nations, 4 cross-border regions, 7 provinces and 85 municipalities.

Mood.

Fluido (River Side room) is hosting a night called Mood., certainly one of the main novelties in Torino clubbing panorama. Focused on electronic music and dedicated to who cannot spend sleepless nights, it stresses the positive and bright atmosphere pervading the musical proposal, DJs, organizers and location.

Places

Castello di Mazzè

In the ancient underground parts of the medieval castle is the Museo della Tortura (Museum of Torture): tools and methods from the Holy Inquisition. The building is surrounded by a large park with a scenic view looking out over the Canavese.

Castello di Costigliole d’Asti

Surrounded by a large park, the castle houses an international cooking school and the annual “asta del Barbera” (“Barbera auction”) which has become a not-to-miss event for fans of quality wine.

Filatoio Rosso di Caraglio

The Filatoio (Spinning Mill), built between 1676 and 1678, is an extraordinary example of 17th century Piemonte “industrial architecture”. Today, completely restored, it houses the Museo Regionale della Seta (Regional Silk Museum), as well as contemporary art shows.
