L’arpa, dal Congo a Chicago

Museo dell’Arpa Victor Salvi (Victor Salvi Harp Museum) in Piasco (Province of Cuneo) presents to the public a new exhibition, a mixture of music, handicraft, art, anthropology and geography. 50 specimen from Asia, Africa, America and Europe are displayed as an expression of the variety of styles in which the harp has been conceived all over the world.

From the 12th of April to the 14th of September, the Filatoio (Spinning Mill) in Caraglio (Cn) will present the exhibit, “Collectors 2 – La collezione Renato Alpegiani” , dedicated to the well-known Torino citizen who figures among the most important people in the world of international collecting.

Castelli Aperti

Until October, several of the most picturesque places in the province of Cuneo will become the suggestive settings of  “Castelli Aperti” (“Open Castles"). The event, which offers the public the possibility of combining visits to the historic residencies of southern Piemonte with shows, markets and exhibits, is presenting a delectable program of more than 90 events.

Montagna in movimento

Set up inside the 19th century Albertine fortress at Vinadio, the “Montagna in Movimento” exhibit opens again. A journey introducing its visitors to the world of the southern Alps by way of sounds, voices, images in motion and multimedia installations.

Vinadio is recuperating an important fragment of its local history with the opening of a permanent exposition in the Forte Albertino dedicated to the military pigeon-loft of the Regio Esercito Italiano (Italian Royal Army) housed on the complex during the years spanning 1896 and 1944.

Castelli in scena

The 7th edition of “Castelli in scena” opens the doors of ancient manors and historic homes in the province of Cuneo that become the stage for over 60 theatrical shows, concerts, ballets and markets of typical products. Until October 26th.

Venerevanità

Bene Vagienna is hosting the 4th edition of its traditional exhibit dedicated to artistic ceramics created in the 1930’s and 40’s in the factories Lenci ed Essevi in Torino until October 28th. This year female iconography will be explored.

La stanza dei 40 giorni

Promoting the cultural heritage of Piemonte through a travelling show in museums, castles and unconventional places of the Region: this is “La stanza dei 40 giorni”, presented by the Progetto Zoran, an experimental theatre company in Torino. Until November.

Suoni di Marittime

The 2008 edition of “Suoni di Marittime” adds a note of colour to summer in the Parco naturale delle Alpi Marittime (Natural Park of the Maritime Alps). The event has scheduled various itinerant concerts to be performed in the Alpine shelters and locations in this protected area and will run until September 13th.

Saluzzo Musica Festival 2008

From the lute to the violin, from the cello to the harp, from the mandolin to the Baroque orchestra plus guitar solos, duos and ensembles: at the 25th edition of the Saluzzo Musica Festival, string instruments will win over the most distinctive places of this noble town with their lovely tones.

Grinzane Festival 2008

The hills of southern Piemonte will become the itinerant stage for the 13th edition of the Grinzane Festival from August 29th to September 7th. This event offers artistic shows and performances that are matched with moments dedicated to the material culture of foods and flavours of this area.

Occitània on Foot

The march without frontiers leaves from Vinadio on August 30th. Organised by the Chambra d’Oc , it will cross France and arrive in Spain on November 7th, after 70 days and 1300 kilometres of travel. This pilgrimage is dedicated to the appeal of the “D'Oc language for World Heritage of Humanity”.
