Il Salotto di Mao
The new season of the live-salon presented by Mao, musician and MTV VJ, and dedicated to the emerging Piedmontese artistic panorama has just started. Attended by bands, singer-songwriters, dancers, designers and many other guests, Il Salotto di Mao (Mao’s Salon) is a prestigious as well as eccentric showcase for every creative artist.
L’ascolto e l’incontro
The workshops at the Residenza de Il Mutamento Zona Castalia offer educational and intercultural theatrical courses addressed to women and families that are either natives or have immigrated to the Porta Palazzo section of Torino. The final goal of the project is to promote feminine integration into several spheres and contexts of everyday activity.

Places
Forte di Vinadio
Requested by Re Carlo Alberto, the Forte (Fort) di Vinadio represents one of the most important examples of military architecture from the Alps. It extends length-wise for 1,200 meters, on three levels, which cover about 10 km of interior passageway.
Historical Wine Cellars in Canelli
The wine cellars – which hold ancient barrels perfectly lined-up – have brick arches, lowered large round arches connected to each other by tunnels that reach into the layers and strata of earth which have formed over the centuries.
Castello di Mazzè
In the ancient underground parts of the medieval castle is the Museo della Tortura (Museum of Torture): tools and methods from the Holy Inquisition. The building is surrounded by a large park with a scenic view looking out over the Canavese.

People
Luis Sepúlveda
“Like my paternal grandfather used to say: one is a native of the place where he feels most at ease and right now I feel wonderful in Torino for instance, as well as in Gijon. That’s what life is all about.”
Giuliano Montaldo
“I shot my first film Tiro al piccione in Piemonte in 1960 on Lago Maggiore. Today, for the filming of I Demoni di San Pietroburgo, I wanted to return to the scene of the crime…it’s an historic film that transfers great literature to the plains of Piemonte among the Palazzi and Sabaude residences of Torino”.
Roberto Capucci
“Torino is an aristocratic city, not a scoundel. You natives are spared because there is not too much tourism and this is a great fortune. There is a class to this city that no longer exists elsewhere. I’m reminded of a woman like Rita Levi Montalcini, for whom I have designed over 50 dresses”.
