from 20.11.2007 to 16.06.2008

Convinced that there is no such thing as ‘cultured’ or ‘uncultured’ music, but rather only ‘good’ and ‘bad’ music, without distinguishing between styles, but with a great interest in the quality of the performance and the coherence of the artistic concept, the Accademia Stefano Tempia presents a season dedicating space to the great symphonic and choral classics, jazz, Argentine tango, contemporary music, Gregorian chants and folk. The programme is hallmarked by a special focus on the voice in a soloistic and in a choral sense. This takes us back to the origins of the Accademia, allowing us to see it in a new light, both with the almost human voice of the sax of Paul Jaffrey (8th March 2008) and the Christmas carols of the Gruppo Vocale Chorus (Chorus Vocal Group) (15th December 2007), or the pure and unreachable voice of a Vivaldi d’ispirazione sacra (Vivaldi of sacred inspiration) (28th January 2008). Other performances will include the concerts dedicated to vocal Medieval and Renaissance music from Gregorian chants to Orlando di Lasso (19th April 2008), or the hymns pertaining to the Protestant choral tradition (5th June 2008). The highlight of the season is a series of five concert shows emblematically titled “Note dal mondo” (Notes from the World), which intends to present frontier music and cultures, in the quest for an age-old, profound spirituality. Mankind’s eternal search for spirituality, being suspended between “heaven and earth”, also provides the theme for the world première (16th June 2008) of the Missa in dedicatione S. Michaelis Arcangeli composed by contemporary composer Enrico Euron, a long-awaited event for both the Accademia and for the Sacra di San Michele complex (Saint Michael’s Abbey).
