Ai monti! Ceramiche d'arte 1930-1950
Museo della Montagna
from 14.02.2008 to 30.11.2008
A wide range of handmade articles representing alpine subjects, now rare and unobtainable, which have made “history” in the houses, or better the living rooms, of Italian mothers and grandmothers. These objects may be useless, but they are certainly decorative and precious. Made between 1930 and 1950 by well and less known artists, helped by prestigious factories which exported their products all over the world, the pieces of pottery displayed are the symbol of a luxury which marked an age. The exhibition takes its name from a creation by Torino’s manufacturer Lenci: Ai monti (Go to the mountains) of 1936. Among the objects displayed: “Alpinista” (Alpinist - 1929) and “Curva pericolosa” (Dangerous curve - 1941) by Tarcisio Tosin, “Sciatore nero e blu” (Black and blue skier) by Rometti, a definitely futurist subject dating back to 1935, and the more recent “Sciatrice” (Woman skier) by Tiziano Galli and “Sciatore” (Man skier) by Zaccagnini, specifically made for the exhibition on a subject by Luciano Proverbio, with limited circulation.
