Pinacoteca Agnelli Via Nizza 230 int. 103
from 20.03.2008 to 06.07.2008
The exhibit presents a group of more than 200 objects – furniture, architectural models, fabrics, saddles, plates and glasses, books, photos and documents – from the private collection of Alexander Von Vegesack, cultural innovator, director and founder of the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. Starting back in the ‘60’s, Alexander Von Vegesack began collecting objects and documents from the world over, from Spain to Mexico, from Austria to Japan. With Mathias Schwartz-Clauss as curator, the show is a portrait of a collector, of his passion, and of that peculiar curiosity for searching and the ability to read beyond the pure aesthetics of an object. The exhibit tells the story of this collection through the life, the work, and the trips taken by Von Vegesack. The twenty sections will include the history of the more important pieces from the 20th century and various surprising discoveries.
