Rassegna del cinema laico
Cinema Massimo Via Verdi 18
from 07.03.2008 to 19.06.2008
Now in its second edition, the Rassegna del cinema laico (Review of Secular Cinema) has been organized by the Consulta torinese per la Laicita delle Istituzioni (Torino Council for Secularism in Institutions), in collaboration with the Museo Nazionale del Cinema (National Museum of Cinema) and with the Centro Interculturale della Citta di Torino ( Intercultural Center for the City of Torino). Nine films are scheduled from March to June, all focusing on topics particularly significant for today’s society: always more multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious. Through existential situations and different occurrences, aspects of secular ethics - non-dogmatic, not absolutist - emerge from this complexity, aspects of freedom and positive tolerance, of respect and comparison between equal and diverse with the long-term view of a more civil cohabitation between individuals and groups from within the human community. Included in the program is the film “4 mesi, 3 settimane e 2 giorni” (“4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days”) by Cristian Mungiu, winner of the 2007 Palme d’or at Cannes.
