Accendi il Cervello. Intelligence, Senses, Emotions
Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali
from 10.03.2008 to 25.05.2008
With “Accendi il Cervello” (“Turn on Your Brain”), Experimenta takes the dare: explain the most complex object that science has ever faced. The exhibits help to answer a series of questions by identifying the laws of human behavior that regulate sending messages to and from the brain. The parts of the brain that deal with the processing of consciousness, hearing, sight, movement, touch, emotions, and smell are identified Two main activities in our brain are revealed: listening and sleep. In two psychoacoustic experiences, one hears the un-hearable: in the first one, what happens during the coding/decoding of a perceived sound and the relative message that we then send to our brain; in the second one, what the brain formulates, under the form of frequencies, during sleep. Finally, tests to evaluate the various aspect of our intelligence are offered.
