This is the first time that Italy is dedicating an important retrospective to the founder of the museum of Montpellier, Francois-Xavier Fabre. The initiative is a good opportunity to present, as much as it is exhaustingly possible, the work of an artist who was very well thought-of during his life and of whom modern times has sung the praises even more. The exhibit brings together masterpieces kept in various countries of the world, from the significant core-group coming from the museum of Montpellier to pictures shown at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the National Museum of Scotland.
