Starting point of the exhibition are the 29 works selected among those making up the collection of Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende. This museum was created by a group of representatives of the international culture who, between 1971 and 1973, gathered the works given by artists all over the world, and carried on this work also in years of the Regime in the attempt to promote political solidarity. Presenting also the works by six young artists, the exhibition offers an interesting and in-depth glance at the current artistic production, animated by a powerful creative potential treating “human space” as “identity”, not only political and social. Paintings by Joan Mirò, Roberto Matta and Frank Stella, sculptures by Alexander Calder and Jorge Oteiza, drawings, collages, silk-screen printings by other prestigious artists establish a dialogue with the polyphonic installations by Claudia Aravena, Mónica Bengoa, Guillermo Cifuentes, Andrea Goic, Bernardo Oyarzun and Sebastian Preece, thus generating a visual contrast which stresses the unstoppable and universal evolution of art language and starts a debate on the role of art work in the historical and social context where it is produced and represented.
