An Island of Wisteria
Isola Madre
from 19.04.2008 to 04.05.2008
The botanical garden on Lago Maggiore’s Isola Madre, the first and among the most important in wisteria blooming, is in flower. On the Borromeo islands, these woody climbers punctually put on their show between the end of April and the first days of May.
There are a good 25 varieties of wisteria, different in color, fruit, and method of growing, which can be admired at the botanical garden. Among the stand-outs is the rare “Milletia japonica”, red in color and very difficult to propagate.
