Asti and Vercelli are the last two stops for the Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) and its new staging at the Teatro Regio, which is part of the RegioneInTour opera circuit. The two act comic opera made famous by the music of Gioachino Rossini, who commissioned Cesare Sterbini to write the libretto, was a milestone in the history of opera. The new staging is completely “Made in Teatro Regio” as it is under the direction of Vittorio Borrelli – the theater’s stage director, a popular collaborator with world famous directors, and, not to mention, the passionate craftsman behind the scenes of many of the opera season’s performances. The settings, instead, are by Claudio Boasso, in charge of the Regio’s set designing workshop; the costumes are by Luisa Spinatelli; lightening is by Andrea Anfossi, the “magician” of the Teatro’s lightening effects. Directing the Orchestra and the Coro del Teatro Regio is Alessandro Galoppini.
