Within the illustrious rooms of the Romanesque Baptistery of San Pietro and the Gothic style chapel nearby, guests will be able to admire masterpieces from almost all the regions that are part of the elaboration of African art arena: from Mali, to the Congo, to Angola. The more than 200 works on view document the variety of ways in which traditional African art undertakes the problem of the representation of the human body, the female one in particular. The series of works by artists Luba and Hemba from the Congo, who have made woman the topmost theme of their personal artistic experience, is of particular worth.
