Using photographic material from family albums as his departure point, Argentinian photographer Gustavo Germano takes his lens to accompany family and friends of desaparecidos to the same places as those where the photos were taken. In a constant dialogue between past and present, Ausencias highlights the missing people by showing 14 cases in order to put a face on the universe of desaparecidos: workers, neighbourhood militants, students, blue collar workers, professionals, entire families, victims of the systematic illegal repression established by Argentina’s military dictatorship.
